RCB Nanotechnologies GmbH has raised up to EUR 25 million in equity capital as part of the seed financing round supported by SOLEOS. These funds will be used to finance the commissioning of the first industrial proof of concept plant and the subsequent expansion of capacities.
RCB Nanotechnologies GmbH has developed a cleaning and separation technology for recovered carbon black, zinc and silica in cooperation with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft – the world’s leading organisation for application-oriented research. Used tyres are used for this purpose. Up to now, only a small proportion of the carbon black contained in these tyres has been recycled, as it contains about 20 percent mineral ash. With the new technology, this ash can be separated almost completely. This process enables tyre and plastic manufacturers to reuse the recovered from old tyres. This recycling can save millions of tonnes of oil and CO₂ emissions.
